Pretending to be Content

For the majority of my Christian life, I was told that I needed to be content when it comes to finding a wife. Needlesss to say, I was thinking the exact opposite, I wanted to find a wife. I remember thinking one day that God will send a woman that will “knock my socks off”, as I put it.

I never really considered that it was okay for me to desire getting married. In fact, I should have been preparing for marriage many years before I was even married. Why did I not think that it was okay to desire marriage, I equated getting married primarily to having sex. I was ashamed that if other folks new my desire for marriage – they would think that all I want to do is have sex. Although partially true (I confess), I realized that my desire to cling to a woman for the rest of my life completely God-given.

I found a clip from Matt Chandler (@MattChandler74), pastor of The Village Church in Fower Mound, TX, regarding contentment. It is from his teaching of Song of Solomon that can be found at songofsolomon.com.
