Men. Take Notes. Tedashii – Bout Time

I found this song from Tedashii called “Bout Time” from his album Kingdom People from Reach Records. His lyrics represent relationships young brothers have with their sisters when Christ is central. This was a great listen and gave me an understanding of how precious the relationship I have with my wife.

I’m more and more impressed with this new line of music that puts Christ on display well. Enjoy!

Bout time that we do this thing right,
man it’s about time that we make her my wife
If she’s a friend and a woman of God,
needs to be treated like a sister in Christ

Bout time that we follow His word,
if she’s your woman then love her like Christ loved the church
Let’s not confuse this love with eros, phileo,
but keep this relationship right

Verse 1:
Saturday evening we all chilling at my boy’s crib,
debating, philosophizing like Paul at Mars Hill
And then she walked in and caught my eye as she walked by,
I thought why not I sought her out, posted up, started talking
Played my position right, prayed my decisions right,
but she’s a Christian right, seems my decisions right
So I pursued her and called and tried to suture her heart up,
and sweep her off her feet, hoping that my future has got her
Spending time together, feeling intertwined together,
life is so sublime together, I could see her down forever,
I’m so in love with this girl man,
I can’t see myself without her up in this world man,
when I was down she was down in a hurry man,
she calmed me down through my problems and my worries man,
And plus she took away my bad time putting a smile on my face,
even during sad times, to me this girl blows my mind

Verse 2:
It’s been 7 months and things ain’t as good as it was,
we seem to grow apart like distant relatives does
And in a panic we, franticly, tried to handle this, dismantle this?,
that’s not an option for us in our relationship
Sadly we turned to lust, thought that would be enough,
see ran to it for the rush, all the while we losing touch
Ignoring that we sinning, living to regain a feeling,
trying our hardest to recapture this love thru hugging a kissing
But this ain’t working man, feels like a burden man,
don’t know what happened but this feels like it ain’t worth it man
I tried hard to have a change of heart, I really did,
I beg the Lord to come and flame the spark, said I’d repent
But out of obligation feels like I gotta stay
but deep inside I’m fight pride, wishing that I got away
I gotta pray cause now a day’s I treat her like
I never knew her when the truth was I’d probably feel her if she was newer

Verse 3:
To many times I see this cycle like in Judges,
a guy approaches a girl and tries to date her without proper judgement
He just goes off his senses, cause of looks he get’s in this,
no proper perspective of purpose so he calls it friendship
While she thinks that you’re dating, she sits back patient,
waiting debating your intentions, wishing for more than conversation
But guys are so passive and that’s our sin man,
like Adam we go with the flow but leadings on the men man
So what’s your true motive cause some of us are players living on the low,
we play with hearts but when it comes to love we saying no
Improperly engaging the hearts of these ladies,
if you have no plan or purpose of pursuit, ain’t no point in dating
This seems old school, I know it’s old dude,
but we suffer if things ain’t done the way they suppose to
I know you like her but check your motives, make sure their right,
and guard her heart exhorting her as a sister in Christ

Why We Named Our Son Titus?

One of the first question Rebecca and I are asked when they meet our son is, “Why did you name him Titus?” I thought I would answer this question through this post.

From the ESV Study Bible –

The theme of Titus is the inseparable link between faith and practice, belief and behavior. This truth is the basis for its critique of false teaching as well as its instruction in Christian living and qualifications for church leaders.

While in Crete, Paul established churches through the entire region and left Titus as one of the leaders of the church.

  • Paul encourages Titus to stand up for sound doctrine
  • Paul explains to Titus that false teaching makes was for ungodliness
  • Paul gives Titus a description of a healthy church: proper leadership, proper handling of error, proper Christian living, & the gospel as the source of godliness

Here is a great song that was written by Trip Lee called “Sound (Titus)” going through the Book of Titus. We desire our son to be  a banner of truth to a fallen & corrupt world. Man is sinful and God is good. We pray that God would use our little boy, Titus, to build Christ’s church for God’s glory.

Sound (Titus) – Trip Lee (13 Letters – 116 Clique)

See the video on YouTube:

Let’s take a look at the letter Paul wrote to Titus
Yeah we about to dive in, I hope you excited
For sure it’s inspired let’s go and apply it
Arrive at conclusions useful to giving Christ His
Glory that He deserves, His story in His word
And Titus is all about giving Him glory as His church
From Paul a bondservant (1:1), to Titus (1:4) they both fervent
Both serving Christ with they life with the most urgence (1:4)
Titus was his disciple he left Him in Crete
To keep the church in order (1:5) this lessons complete
Wit rules about elders (1:5-9), fools who need help (1:10-16) and
Jews who do fail (1:10-14, 3:9) stay tuned see what he tells us
It may seem far from us, some irrelevant text
What if we not pastors? but just rest for a sec
I promise ill bring it home let’s invest in the text
I’m bout to hit you with the hook Ill be addressing it next
Let’s be sound in faith, in doctrine, in speech plus deeds
Rep Jesus, the King, let Him lead us please
Plus we see He told us how we must be
Let’s read and trust Jesus who freed us please
Paul told him elders needed to be above reproach (1:6,7)
With love and hope and living all the stuff he spoke (1:9)
But then there are those who wear the clothes of elders but the bear the woes
Of false teachers not speaking truth so don’t select those (1:10-11)
Correct those men (1:13) they defy Him they’re trying
To say they know God but by their deeds they deny Him (1:16)
1:5-9 are the type of cats we want to pick
For leadership within the church, them other cats we ‘posed to fix (1:13)
Don’t tune me out I hope that you’ll endure and see that
These things are really marks of a mature believer
We can see that and apply it to our own living
Instead of sinning, tripping and living with no vision
And don’t miss that chapter 2, really addresses me and you
And everybody in the body with some lessons we can use (2:1-10)
So read it all and peep the part that seems to be to you
And live out this sound doctrine, let people see the fruit (2:14)
Let’s be blameless and show consideration for men (3:2)
‘Cause we was just like them before He saved us within
It wasn’t strange we had rage and hatred for men
We was disobedient deceived and enslaved to our sin (3:3)
But He saved us and not on the basis of men
But thanks to His mercy regeneration begins (3:5)
He poured out His Holy Spirit, man He placed it within (3:6)
Justified by His grace, that’s so amazing for men (3:7)
If we see this, believe this, and we saved and freed
Then let Jesus lead us to engage in deeds (3:8)
Forget foolish controversy and stay in synch (3:9)
With He who saved us and raised us His name is sweet
I’m praying as the body of Christ we model His life
And reference the book of Titus to follow Him right
And we’re an accurate reflection as His beautiful church
Let us rep Him with our words and our beautiful works
